Tom, especially, served as board President for several years, guiding us through some key points in our neighborhood’s evolution. Thanks, everyone!

The 2009 Annual Meeting of the Wyatt Farm Homeowners Association, held on December 10, was well attended and had lively discussions. Outgoing HOA President Tom Rubenstein led the meeting and discussed various activities that the HOA Board of Directors has been involved in this past year.

The playground committee, made up of Julie Hodge, Kristine Lattimer, John Lewis, and Sarah Woolsey, presented their proposal for the installation and maintenance of a playground in the Wyatt Farm Commons area near the pavilion. A question-and-answer period followed, and finally a vote was taken. Including proxy votes, the playground was approved with a vote of 71 in favor and 4 against. Installation of the playground and additional landscaping will take place in the spring.

The HOA Board and the membership in general expressed their warmest regards to Tom Rubenstein for the excellent leadership he has provided our neighborhood during his tenure as president. The Board will determine who will serve as president for the 2010 at their January meeting.

Full minutes of the Annual Meeting will be posted on this web site soon.

Due to the many problems caused by the large skunk population this year, the Wyatt Farm HOA Board arranged for skunk traps to be set throughout our neighborhood for two weeks in August. This resulted in 13 skunks being captured and removed. The technicians at Blue Ridge Wildlife Management, who administered the effort, thought those results were well above average, especially given the size of the area we were covering.

The HOA Board concluded that, although the process was expensive, it was almost certainly worth it in this case. Thank you for your input on this issue!

At the recent annual meeting, President Tom Rubenstein discussed the need for new members on the Wyatt Farm HOA Board of Directors. Tom himself is stepping down as President and leaving the Board, but has agreed to serve as Acting President during the transition. Vice-President George Garrott is also stepping down, but will remain active on the Architectural Standards Committee. Several other Board members have resigned over the past year. So there were several new opportunities to contribute.

Thankfully, several people at the annual meeting stepped up to the plate! At the BOD meeting immediately following the annual meeting, the following people were elected to the Board:

Bob Bush

George Jobson

Mike Peterson

Dennis Sossi

These four join recently-new Board member Mike Saffle, as well as veterans Bob Gogal, Lisa Goatley, and John Lewis. We welcome all the new folks and thank them for their service.

Unfortunately, Bob Gogal won’t be with us much longer either as he plans his move to Georgia. And Tom will have to be replaced permanently soon as well. So there is still an opportunity to join us! Please let us know if you are interested.

We want to take this opportunity once again to thank Tom, George, and Bob for their years of dedicated service to our community!
